So, you prefer Windows instead of Linux, because you think Linux is a mess? Obviously, you just hate free software. Not linux mind you, but free software in general. All Windows geeks hate free software (right, Adam?).

Never mind that geek-specific, Windows-only free software exists, like MPC-HC and Dev-Cpp. How did this software gained any users anyway, if windows geeks hate free software?

Of course, there is the chance we are using whatever mix of free and proprietary software fits our needs, because we have actual needs from our computers and need to get stuff done, because we are not spoiled basement dwellers living on our parents expense.

Or course, i don’t expect Adam to understand this.

I wonder, is a 'free software’ project running on .NET still 'free software’?

@ChrisTX

According to the free software definition, it is. Cross platform compatibility was never a requirement, nor is the use or avoidance of specific APIs.

But expect Stallman to soon find a way to interpret the free software definition or the GPL in such manner that makes such software “not truly free”.

In the same way that linux distros like Ubuntu which offer an app store that links to proprietary software are characterized as “not truly free” in the F$F website.

Arguing with Stallman is like arguing with a totalitarian government. Even if you do everything by the book, they still can proclaim you an enemy because they feel like so.

P.S.: MPC-HC is a classic example of software that uses windows only APIs to ease development. Its free software of course (still?)

Heh… I hate “free” software—both “free as in beer” and “free as in freedom [whatever the frack THAT means!}) installed on my Windows & PC… along with some paid software that I really enjoy. However, with Linux, I don’t have the choice to pick and choose what software I can put on MY pc… I only have the choice of what my distro of the moment ALLOWS me to put on me PC. So… freetardia.. tell me which OS REALLY LETS ME BE FREE? It sure as hell ain’t Linux as far as I can tell. Frack Open-Sauce.!

Once again, Adam King misses the boat and jumps the shark at the same time.

Nobody hates free software, we just hate cheapskate douchebags who claim that all software must be free; That it is some sort of inalienably right that somehow only applies to software.

People who turn their financial issues into moral ones are just greedy and lazy at the same time.

Exactly. Nothing is really free (as in beer, anyways).

Expect “WinWord2000 v15” to clog your computer speed, because free comes at a cost.
