Adam Ant King’s up to his old antics again, but this time he’s claiming that to us, books are scary because they will change our views on Linux zealotry.

Listen up: we have nothing against Linux or FLOSS. Adam Ant King makes Linux look more inferior than it already is, in an attempt to spread his flawed arguments around TM Repository.

Now, he claims that a certain book is what we are afraid of because its eloquence will change our views on “Linux” and “FOSS”.

Adam Ant King says

The book you all are afraid of “Free Culture” by Lawrence Lessig. You are afraid that it might be too eloquent and may change your views regarding Linux and FOSS.

That is what he said. It’s not true. He just seeks attention and asks for us to obey him.

Who’s with me?

Well, he does seek attention, doesn’t he… perhaps we give him too much of it.

Have you read Lessig’s book?

It’s here.

Inspirational, but make sure you drop the brown acid first.

Rather entertainingly, it takes at least five minutes to track it down on the Web. But of course Adam might have made that more obvious.

In exactly the same way that he understands how to program “Hello World!” for thirty nine (it was thirty nine, wasn’t it, Adam? Do save me the effort of looking this up) different distros.

And in exactly the same way that you cannot really understand Lessig without first being a Math Supremo who vaguely gets the concept of Calculus, as long as you can quote a Wikipedia article or two, and as long as you can gloss over the difference between the calculus (essentially Leibnitz and Newton) and a Calculus (lambda, pi, actually there are rather a lot of these).

But I’m sure that the little brown paper trowsered lad is up to all of this stuff.

He is magnificent!
