This example of false dichotomy often pops up when a Linux fan grudgingly acknowledges a fault in their OS of choice. Point out a flaw, and they immediately point to some flaw (real, imaginary or exaggerated) in Windows.

Because there is one and only one reason why anybody could possibly find fault in Linux, and that’s because they’re uneducated Microsoft fanboys trying to legitimize Windows. Other OSes don’t exist, and neither does objective criticism.

There should probably be a MacIsAnImaginaryOS™ because everytime someone points a flaw in linux he's instantly branded as a windows user :S

@Kommenter

Or NobodyUsesMac(TM) or MacIsUsless(TM).

Funnily enough, on that topic, I stumbled across this: http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs41/f/2009/038/a/b/OS_ver__2_0_by_Dont_lose_heart.png

You guessed it, the author is an Ubuntu user and he made that modified image in GIMP (it certainly shows). From the description, he says:

"just something i stumbled upon one day and took it upon myself to make a few corrections to... obviously only to the linux and windows parts. having never used FreeBSD and only using OS X a few times i wouldn't really know much about them... although that is pretty much my impression of OS X"

Making judgements about operating systems they don't know about... that sums up FOSS ideology pretty well.

The best part about that image is that edit would have looked better if it was made in ms.paint by a blind monkey.

His comment about OSX.. So his opinion of an unix compliant OS with an interface that rivals windows is that it's useless. More so considering just how many great software for artists there is on the mac.

I guess to freetards something useful is what allows them to fix their borked linux box.

That's actually one of the better images I was able to find. I really love deviantArt but it too has been infested by the Linux crowd. Case in point:

http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs20/f/2007/306/5/b/Windows_is_dead_by_Zebbrafish.jpg

http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs30/i/2008/160/5/b/open_source_by_Zbychowiec.jpg

http://fc03.deviantart.net/images2/i/2004/01/f/f/Lin_vs_Win.jpg

http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs46/f/2009/243/a/6/Antivista_by_baddest.jpg

And that's just in the first page of a search result for "linux anti windows". Try it, see for yourself.

Even better, Linus now uses a macbook to code the Linux kernel in OSX. This must just blow freetards minds that a mac can be used to write code.

Oh the irony. A symbol of FOSS being forged on a closed-source, proprietary system. That's like, dividing by zero or something.

What's wrong with dividing by 0?
You either get a cpu trap, a NaN, an Inf, or the complete destruction of the universe :P.

Why exactly does Linus have a mac if he's just going to put linux on that thing? Does he like paying the apple tax? Or maybe... just maybe... linux sucks ass and he wants Mac OSX?

Because Linus wants a stable OS, that can also run iTunes, on which he can code a kernel for an unstable OS.
