The notion that you should run Windows software inside a virtual machine running on top of Linux, even if all you run is Windows applications. Why run Windows native when you can “host” it in Linux at greatly reduced performance.

Apparently, this is so you can get all the “benefits” of a Linux desktop and continue to use the software you’re familiar with. Too bad any decent open source software that runs on Linux already has a port for Windows.

No no no.

It’s “Linux Powers My Windows.”

I mean, obviously Windows Powers My Linux. That’s what Cygwin is for. Saves all that nasty X stuff, too.

Actually, since the licensing is the same either way, I see no reason why I shouldn’t run Ubuntu inside a virtual machine running on top of Windows. That way I can appreciate the Joy of Brown.

I’m thinking next April 1st.
