An ancient argument used by freetards since the inception of Linux. The Linux kernel and surrounding application base used to be small, light and agile; truly lean and mean for its time.
Since then, Linux has taken on a “kitchen sink” mentality where everything is included by default. Never planning to use Python? Too bad, its there by default. Don’t plan to ever edit a Word document? Too bad, OpenOffice is installed by default. The kernel itself is probably the biggest offender since it requires all drivers be compiled into it. Even Linus has been directly quoted as saying the kernel is “not the lean and mean kernel he’d once envisioned, its quite bloated now”.
Sure, if you know what you’re doing, you can opt out of installing some of these packages but, if you tell a freetard they’ll need to install Office on Windows they’ll cry that its so inconvenient and it should have been installed by default.

On the opposite end of this scale are folks like Manu who claim Windows does not have enough software included by default. I’ve seen the freedomites argue both sides, even changing position in the middle of a debate. It’s always a lose-lose situation with Windows as far as they’re concerned.
