The title some of the more “clever” freetards give to people who question their ideology. Unfortunately, the title is platform-specific. I’m curious to know how those using OSX or BSD can be considered “winbreds”. An already shaky premise gets shakier when you consider that many people complaining about FOSS or Linux are actual Linux users.

But apparently, they all run Windows and are slaves to Microsoft and proprietary software.

Adam King also coined Macfag, the Macintosh equivalent of freetard and winbred.

What’s with all these derogatory terms, anyway?

He didn’t coin that one, and neither winbred nor macfag make sense as rebuttals. A freetard is someone who blindly follows FOSS ideology to extremes. They don’t just use open source, it’s a lifestyle.

They’re “spreading the gospel” of free software and they’re too retarded to make their own decisions, this makes them freetards.

I never use the term freetard anymore to refer to a Linux zealot. Linux zealot is far less derogatory.

You’re asking Adam to make sense? The guy whines about censorship while trying to censor people from his own blog (poorly… very poorly!), snipes at people for using Windows and gets busted using Windows in one of his rants… no… Sensical isn’t Adam’s strong suit. The best that can be said is Hypocritical much?

@DigitalAtheist

Exactly!

@ReactOSGuy, I only use the term freetard when I’m referring to ideological FOSS evangelists. Using the term “Free Open Source Software Advocates” doesn’t really convey the level of crazy some of these guys have reached.

Freetard is a coined term, but for me, Linux zealot conveys that they are still crazy. I could use Linux Youth instead.

@DigitalAtheist:

Sensical.

Do I not like that.

So not very Loon…

I’ve noticed when dealing with “Linux haters”, that they get defensive and apologetic when you say anything bad about the Mafia$oft corporation. ALWAYS.

It’s obvious to me anything who hates Linux is following the lead of the chief Linux hating corporation. So there is no reason to call Linux haters anything other than “Winbreds”.

I still don’t understand how someone using a mac would even care about Microsoft. Or be a “winbred” for that matter. You still haven’t clarified.

Let’s see… who cares about Windows here, aside from me?

No. People who use it just use it.

Provide examples please.

I think I explained it well enough. I don’t care if you use Mac OS X, BSD or whatever but if you act as an apologist for Mafia$oft, you are a Winbred.

I have yet to meet a Linux hater who also isn’t a Mafia$oft apologist. Therefore there is no reason to separate Winbreds from other “Linux haters”. They are one and the same.

“I think I explained it well enough.”

In three or four years, I have never seen you “explain” it once. What on earth is your beef, boy?

Look at me. Just look at me. I work for Microsoft. I am paid by Microsoft; not as a shill, just as an employee.

I am paid by Microsoft.

And you know what I do? I get snarky about their corporate culture, and I object to their rather worrying source control process, and I promote VOS, and I object to the pointy-heads and the rest and …

... I’m not even that fond of the bastards. My next laptop will be a Mac. My next phone will possibly be WP7 (not because I get a discount, because I don’t — I’m a contractor).

I have Honesty on my side.

What the fcuk do you have?

“but if you act as an apologist for Mafia$oft, you are a Winbred.”

Fair enough. But I’m just as critical of Windows as I am with every other OS or piece of software. Crap is crap. It just so happens that Linux is further behind Windows or OSX, so there are more flaws and more things to complain about.

Let’s not forget, too, the angle this chump trying to approach the issue from, namely supercomputers, servers and mobile devices. I have SL 5.4 on two boxes – you know, the oh-so-amazing distro that mad scientists supposedly run their megatron colliders with. The glibc from the initial release, 2.5-42, is broken to the point that I need to duct-tape 2.5-39 from the 5.3 repo in order to make VMWare Server not die every 15 minutes. The subsequent update, 2.5-49, introduces another collection of bugs that stops even the default SFTP plugin for SSH from working correctly and results in me replacing the entire glibc package with version 2.5-39. Apparently, if you are not a physicist, Linux is supposed to work like absolute crap at every turn. Either that, or you dish out millions or billions of dollars gutting out this impenetrable mess and replace everything with stuff that actually works. Like many mobile and real-time OS developers do.

Go figure.
