Have you ever sat next to a drunken Scotsman in a bar and asked a perfectly reasonable question like “When did Celtic start wearing those distinctive green hoops?”

Half an hour later you will find yourself with a detailed, yet strangely incoherent, explanation of the Battle of Bannockburn as reported by the Venetian Ambassador, some handy hints on how to make haggis out of old bits of stray animals, a half-remembered couplet from the middle verse of “Rhyfelgyrch Gwyr Harlech,” and a broken pool cue over your head.

oiaohm is the non-Scottish, non-drunk version of that.
