lol Tablets. They’re the new netbooks. There’s going to be all this, “Hell yeah, Android / Meego Tablet Fiesta!” talk. As time goes on more tablets will end up with Windows on them until one has to start actively searching for non Apple / Microsoft powered tablets.

(A small part of me still hopes for an Android, Meego, or Windows tablet that’s not too shabby.)

I see that Orange in the UK is actually offering iPads at £200 (you can laugh, but that’s cheap for Europe) if you’re currently a customer and happy with a £25 per month plan. Even I considered that one, until I realised that I have no earthly need for a tablet. (A Kindle might be nice, though.)

Fact is, the tablet is almost the perfect form for Apple’s design team to get obsessive over. It’s simply and purely a luxury item (although I’ve seen it heavily used on the Tube, which makes sense given the crowded conditions).

I actually like what’s happening with smartphones and tablets right now. There is little or no competition from microsoft, yet the open source crowd managed to screw up entirely by itself.
Android is a fragmented mess, meego is a no show, in other words, they are just waiting for microsoft to come and rare their little buttocks. And when this happens, there will be no “dominant position”/“lock-in” excuses.

The freetards of course like the anarchy that exists now on Android, with all the different UIs (the view it as choice).
