Inspired by this comment from the Linux Journal.
It’s right slap bang in the middle of a comment list with all the usual goodies: Linux is infinitely customisable, just buy the right hardware, it has a tool for every need, I have never been more productive, etc etc.
And yet, TheMagicOfMicrosoft™ can render all this unbeatable goodness for naught, even at a distance. All Microsoft has to do is to “partner” with Novell, and, whammo, OpenSuSE goes down the drain. (Which is slightly odd, really, because OpenSuSE was the “community” edition, not the official Novell one.)
This is basically an admission that the Linux Desktop is crap, and once you’re free to see a provider as “nothing better than Microsoft,” the scales fall from your eyes. Even then, of course, it has to be somebody else’s fault. That would be Microsoft, of course.
Microsoft have also killed any technology they have absorbed. Except when they haven’t, obviously.
Why, they killed Skype even before they had bought it!
Awesome magickal powers, right there.

Linux is infinitely customizable is always lulz to me.
What is wrong with the Windows shell? It’s just fine, and Explorer gets out of the way in Windows 7.
Every time I try out any Linux distro, the GUI is awful. It has this awful and childish look and feel to it. It is not polished at all, and just plain looks like garbage.
The whole Skype incident was annoying, “Microsoft buys Skype, Skype goes down. What will they do next?”
But it isn’t surprising, as it proves how little these people know and understand about real-world business. These things have to be approved by regulators and everything. Not long ago did the U.S. approve of the acquisition, but I think they still are awaiting a couple other OK’s.
I quite appreciate your spelling of 'magickal’ here, dear Dr. :)
