It would be my opinion that the freetards are merely modern day fascists, it’s just the details that have changed, the core underlying ideas are similar if not identical.

This particular nonsense is a result of racism, stemming back to “Unix hackers are the computer Ubermensch”, while “windows users are the dirty rats”.

That kind of a fascist viewpoint leads to racist outbreaks, luckily they mostly assault people over the Internet and not in real life (well, unless we count Hans Reiser).
