Sometimes, when trying to make a point, you’ll cite someone else’s argument. However, if it’s a point critical of Linux, then it could be quoting Linus Torvalds and you’ll get this rebuttal out of it: Your support is invalid because that person is no true Linux user.
In their mind, criticism of Linux is only done by Paid Microsoft Shills and the insane. Criticism of the modern Linux ecosystem never comes about because people have to use it at home or at work, day-in and day-out. It never happens because people find better non-Linux alternatives and have the ability to compare the two. It it never occurs because people have taken the time to read the walls of text that pass as software licenses.
They don’t love Linux? They obviously don’t use linux.
It’s the No True Scotsman defense for our times.

Actually I thought it was closer to “Real Communism has never been tried.” (Not politically; just in intent.)
An interesting thought, that. Android has, to all intents an purposes, branched off the kernel and will stay that way. As has Google in general. As has IBM. Supercomputers too … and Linux 3.0 is essentially a poster-child to show that there’s no life left in the thing.
Once the (Linux) Desktop is finally nailed into its coffin, which can’t be too long now (IPredict™!), there really won’t be any good reason for the “Linux kernel” to survive.
Wonder what the loons will do then?
