This gem sometimes pops up when someone criticizes Linux and can often be found in the comments-swamps of jerkface, LH and others.

It can be roughly translated as, “yeah dude, you got a point”. But that’s too agreeable. So what’s a discerning Freedomite to do? Why, tell them NOBODY FORCES THEM TO USE IT, of course!

Yep. Nobody forces us to use Linux. We just have Linux trolls everywhere on the Internet. We just have the FSF holding dopey protests at the launch of new hardware. We just have zealots doing their damndest to convince us that Linux and FOSS are the greatest form of code ever written and that Bill Gates (who isn’t even the CEO of Microsoft anymore) is an amalgamation of Hitler, Big Brother and Satan.

We’re not being forced but the evangelists certainly are forceful.

Odd … I picked the other idiotic assertion to attack. That one truly had troll-fu.

There is an ironic footnote to this TM, of course. If you’re either a teacher or a student in a certain school system in the frozen north of Canada, then somebody does indeed force you to use it.

I don’t think the Freedomites consider it “forcing”, DrLoser. Remember, LinuxIsChoice™! And in their minds, using Linux is always a blessing. Or something.
