Got any Loadable Kernel Module that is binary only or is your code not integrated to the main tree? StableKernelDriverABINonsense™ is your worse enemy. There is however the possibility to UseEsotericWorkarounds™ as nVidia and VMWare do.

There’s something much easier: MoveItIntoUserSpace™!

Now that’s funny. I kinda remember a nasty discussion way back between Mr Linus “Everything in the Kernel” Torvalds and Prof. Andy “As little code in Kernel as possible” Tannenbaum. My, how things change.

Developpers beware: It is wispered that in Linux user space, no one will hear you scream.

It's worth pointing at Wikipedia on this one (God, how I hate pointing at Wikipedia): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanenbaum%E2%80%93Torvalds_debate

Both of them developed playtime operating systems. The difference is that Tanenbaum admits to it, and has a defensible view on what might be a better architecture.
