Many freetards refer to the cost of a Windows license to be a “Microsoft tax”. In actuality, a tax is a fee levied by governing body on the public to be then used for public works and services. I had no idea Microsoft was a government with control over the public treasury.

Essentially, the argument is that when you buy a computer from Dell it comes preloaded with Windows and the cost of the license is included in the cost of the computer. However, most consumers want an operating system pre-installed and see it as an essential component to making the system run. You don’t hear any freetards complaining about the CPU tax or the hard drive tax, do you?

The truth is, when you buy a Microsoft product, you’re paying a “price”, not a “tax”. Not a penny is “taxed” to Microsoft when someone buys Logitech speakers, or Lacie hard drives, or Samsung monitors, so how exactly can this be called a tax?

[above poster continued to strap a few copies of GIMP to his body, went to Adobe, and ran inside, throwing his GIMP discs all around him, all the while he were screaming "FREEDOM! FREEDOM! MOTHERF*CKING AS-STALLMAN-DEFINED-IT-FREEDOM!]

Amusing note: You can buy a Linux-based laptop for $400, or save $100 and buy a laptop with Windows:
