Posted for completeness.

A “humorous” meme in the Looniverse, but one behind which lurks some sort of Looniversal Truth:

How Freetards fondly imagine a Gnu/Linux Toaster will look

The motion

The sad reality

The act

How about Linux on game consoles? Aka about how loons try to get Linux to run on their consoles, dreaming about a superb media center, till they find the CPU performance is terrible because the thing is basically running in a sort of VM and hardware drivers are pre-alpha with zero support beyond the absolute basics. I had more success turning my Xbox1 to a media center using UnleashX and XBMC (both of them native Xbox1 apps compiled with the usual pirated Microsoft compiler) than any loon had turning his Xbox or PS3 into a linux media center. And my Xbox1 still plays games, unlike those linux mefia centers.

But this doesn’t stop loons who have never tried to brag that “Linux runs on game consoles”. If they had actually tried it, they would never bring up that point.

Hey, I don’t own these things, Kurks!

That would be an excellent idea: let your imagination rip. You’re the expert…

God knows, there’ll be dozens of Heath-Robinsonesque pictures out there illustrating your point.

I like how the 2nd picture bothered to include the back plane ports…then turned them inwards so you can’t access them. Good luck getting wifi to work through the metal casing too.

You might think this is an “exploded” view just to illustrate the internals, but if you look closely, you’ll realise that you can’t even put the rest of the casing back on.

Look closely …

There’s one other tiny little detail about the second picture (an actual implementation of a “Linux Toaster,” or to be more fair, a modded computer) which everybody has missed so far.

Can you guess what it is?
