It actually does.

And it’s the sure sign of a gibbering lunatic when they boast about doing this.

Let’s see. The Mac hardware platform is based around a collection of (more or less) high-end hardware that Apple selects for two reasons and two reasons only:

  • If you limit the choice of components, it makes it easier to concentrate on getting your OS (OSX) to do neat stuff rather than just supporting drivers.
  • Oh, and Apple makes a healthy margin on the outrageous mark-up. And why not, if you can do it?

I haven’t tried it, but I could probably source equivalent components to a Mac for around 75% of the sticker price. Even after discounting for OSX.

And these idiots take what — warning, warning, car analogy — is essentially a Ford Cobra, remove the engine, and dump a diesel from a F150 truck into its place? Actually, that’s a rotten analogy, because the diesel engine would work, in a sputtery sort of way.

And then they boast about it? They are sad and twisted perverts.

“Actually, that’s a rotten analogy, because the diesel engine would work, in a sputtery sort of way.”

I laughed so hard after reading that XD.

I don’t know why anyone would by a Mac and take of OS X to put Linux or anything else on it.

Oh wow, I’ve never heard of Gosalia…

XD

So choose between Windows UI, OS X UI, or GNOME UI

I always think that all those people who critisize apple for selling overpriced computers dont know how much money it takes to build an OS like MacOS X. If you answered something like “200$ per copy”, you are way out.

This is the question:
“Why run Linux on a Mac, when almost all software for Linux can be used on Mac?”

(Actually the same applies in regard to Windows.)
