Ubuntu sans italic

Apparently Linux Hater’s Blog was right all along.

To quote:

The Ubuntu Font Family are a set of matching new libre/open fonts in development during 2010-2011. The development is being funded by Canonical on behalf the wider Free Software community and the Ubuntu project. The technical font design work and implementation is being undertaken by Dalton Maag. Members of the Ubuntu core development team are packaging the font in .deb format.

Er, yes. Obviously.

If you incline your head by about 30°, it is indeed italic. Stunning.

Oh and, noticed something funny? https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Ubuntu%20Font%20Family#Scripts … WAIT! Where’s Mandarin and Japanese? Oh, who cares about these anyway, I mean those two languages alone only make up a little more than a billion speakers …

it’s like someone ran another, better humanist font through a copier a few times and then faxed the result.
