Many freetards believe that if the source for all proprietary software were released (forcibly) the users would benefit profusely. They choose to ignore the fact that this source code will almost surely be stolen and used in another program without the consent of the original developer. Thus the developer will lose his livelihood. Once this is mentioned you are immediately slapped in the face with “I feel very sorry for you if you hate your job so much that the only reason you do it is so that you get paid” by this guy(kev717).

Interestingly, there’s a philosophical point here. If you ignore the cretinous Four Freedoms, Stallman’s original point was that there is a difference between “free as in beer” and “free as in speech.” He was quite clearly in favour of (his own deranged reading of) the latter.

Freetards are, for the most part, incapable of making this distinction. They seem to have progressed, if that’s quite the right word, from:

“Hey! Keg party! Free beer!” to

“Well, it’s my cousin’s wedding. The beer is like, free and stuff.” to

“I’m not paying you for that beer.”

I’m sure Richard looks on fondly; otherwise, he’d vent his spleen at them. Just like he does at everybody else who doesn’t buy his kool-aid. (“Free, as in kool-aid!”)

1) Run Ubuntu Software Center.

2) Report applications that violate copyrights and/or trademarks (e.g., Pacman, VICE) to their lawful owners.

3) ???

4) Profit!
