The X server crashes randomly ?
Gnome seems to get unresponsive quite often ?

Don’t hesitate more, it’s probably only your RAM at fault. You should definitely do a RAM test. It’s probably corrupting your bytes.

(Even though faulty RAM is 0.01% of the time the real cause of the crashes.)
