Always at second hand.

Here’s one from Slashdot #217907 on El Poggo:

“Here’s a great article written by a former Microsoft employee comparing Open Source and Microsoft Product Reality

See, you leave Microsoft, and all of a sudden Free and Open Source Software makes sense to you!

Are you bitter and twisted? Were you sacked? Did you have a nervous breakdown? Did widdle Johnny not get that promotion to Principal Lead SDE III (trust me: it exists) that his Mommy told him he deserved?

Nope, it’s all the fault of that chair-throwing sweaty maniac. And there’s only one way to get back at a chair-throwing sweaty maniac.

It’s through the Code, of course! Steve Ballmer totally understands Code. That, plus throwing chairs, is what Steve lives for!

And thus, reluctantly, you go to the Light Side. Which would clearly be FOSS. Not becoming a CPA or a realtor or somebody who wears gumboots whilst dredging half-dead people out of a broken levee in Louisiana. No, FOSS!

Ask not what you can give to us … ask what we can give to you! John F Kennedy said that, or was it Richard M Nixon? Actually it might have been Richard M Stallman. But, Hell! Smell the DamasceneConversion™!

Funny how you never meet, or even hear of, a single person like this in real life …

... isn’t it?

And just to add a pointlessly intellectual link (because this stuff is fucking obvious as it stands):

You never see anyone like this in real life because they aren’t as confident in what they are blabbing about in the “outside world” compared to the Internet.

After all, if there is an argument that you can’t win, you can just disappear, but it doesn’t exactly work that way in real life. :-)
