Due to their paranoia about Microsoft, many Linux Zealots have a tendency to become isolated from modern technology and society. To the zealots Microsoft has polluted everything around them; nothing is safe not even automobiles. Every company is in bed with Microsoft, hence they cannot be trusted. Ironically, these zealots may use Windows with in a virtual machine or as a separate partition, especially if they are employed. As you could imagine, cogitative dissidence is abound. Due to such paranoia, zealotry and cogitative dissidence, a comparison between Linux zealots and the Techpreists of WarHammer 40000 has been made, “tech monks who live in solitude and refuse the software that is tainted by the evil demon BILLGATUS himself!”
An example comes from the Ubuntu forums, all quotes were made by the user JSeymour in the same post:
Perhaps. But, since I don’t regard a healthy dose of paranoia to be a Bad Thing, I don’t take that as a negative.
I dunno about ultimate, but there’s little question in my mind that Microsoft is something to be avoided to the extent possible. Thus: One reason (amongst many, more important ones) I shunned SBC is they use Microsoft’s IPTV platform. I would not own any automobile that had Microsoft anything embedded in it, incl. Fords with Sync. I use MS-Win boxes only insofar as it’s necessary to support them as part of my job (my work laptop dual-boots, but I never use MS-Win for anything I do not have to). I would never consider in a million years a smart phone based on WinCE or other MS OS.
And, yes, I will, to the extent possible, avoid polluting my systems with solutions beholden to Microsoft.Don’t use Novell anything, except incidentally. Don’t use Y! anything. Intel… well, they’ve made themselves all but impossible to avoid, haven’t they?
Your sarcasm is lost on me. I do not like Microsoft. I do not trust Microsoft. I avoid the company and anything associated with it to the extent possible. I make no apologies for this. I feel my position is both reasonable and justified by history.

These folks remind me of survivalist rednecks types, or the KKK. They sprout similar rhetoric; separation from society because of some “zionist/catholic/liberal” agenda that’s tainted everything from government to media.
I wonder if JSeymour’s work involves an office and a boss and stuff. I can see it now:
“J, I’d like this new audio clip tidied up, ready for production.”
“OK, boss, just wait a few minutes while I shut down Arch and boot into Windows…”
Good luck with that approach.
Yes, I know I kind of cheated and stole the link for the TM above. I just rather liked the quote. I hope to be able to use either one of these in future…
“except incidentally?”
What the foerck is this? Like trying to play the opening chord to A Hard Day’s Night (F with a G on top, basically), but “incidentally” needing a keyboard for the rest of the chord?
Incidentally?
Incidentally?

Who will teach these people a proper lesson in Meaning and Stuff?
Otherwise, who will put them in a safe place where they don’t bother us, and we don’t bother them?
