I don’t wish to waste your time by reading my drivel. In fact, I don’t want to waste your time by reading Dr Roy’s drivel.

This is rivetting drivel.

This is actually a raving lunatic on a public site who is prepared to defend Schestowitz.

I’m itching to add more … but I’d just be insulting your intelligence.

Big, big thanks to Ted.

Oh, and btw: to all those who complain that we here don’t do FUD?

This is FUD.

I skimmed it, and when I saw things that made me go “wtf,” I read more in depth… Just wow.

Just because someone calls this guy, a pro-open source guy, a liar or anything like that, it means that those people clearly could not actually think that themselves, but that Microsoft is doing this themselves — i.e. employees — or hiring people to do it.

I also love the, “It’s been rumored that Microsoft does other things like post in Linux forums pretending to be a user with an issue, and when somebody responds with a helpful answer, no followup is seen after that.”

Ever stop to think that maybe the answer was helpful enough that it solved the issue and they didn’t feel like saying anything more?

Oh, woops… Like these people ever stop to think.

Well, you have to admit that the lack of a follow-up is unique to Microsoft, don’t you?

I mean, if that wasn’t true, the Walls of Jericho would come crumbling down.

God forbid that Microsoft support (utterly crap though it is — I live with it each and every day, from the inside) is more responsive than, say, Ubuntu Forums.

That would be a Sin and a Stain Upon the Knee-Length Trousers, wouldn’t it?

I think the new Ubuntu Forums is AskUbuntu (which, ironically, runs on Windows).

@IMGX64

Don’t forget that ubuntuforums.org runs on vBulletin, which is closed-source, but vBulletinIsProprietaryButNot
Completely™.

“I think the new Ubuntu Forums is AskUbuntu (which, ironically, runs on Windows).”

That’s not ironic – that’s appropriate; they want their webpage to stay up and actually work after all – Windows is just the kind of platform that can facilitate that (Dreck Brown Durden however, is not).

In fact, even Upoopoo itself should run on Windows, that is to say, Upoopoo should be a Mark Soyuzworth visual theme for Windows… it would be a much better use of Mark’s money (users would still get screwed over however, by the ugly theme, that is).

If you were a Linux fanboy, you would’ve said “But Windows gets blue screens all the time!”.

If you were a Linux fanboy, you would’ve used words like Windoze and Bill Gate$, and criticized XP because the blue theme of luna looks childish.

By the way, Ubuntu has switched from brown to purple/black/orange in 10.04, but no number of screenshots can convince you of that. I think you just think “Upoopoo” is so clever.

#7 Posted by ReverseControllerSE on Oct 15, 2011 8:04 AM

Your screenshots were brown.

How’s your eyesight, or, alternatively, can your system display colour (in a decent intensity)?

#8 Posted by ReverseControllerSE on Oct 15, 2011 8:09 AM

Just so you understand: that “black” colour is actually a rather dark brown – quite the ugly thing, if I say so myself.

And while I’m at it, the orange and violet tones are not the highest peak of visual design either.

If you were a Linux fanboy, you would’ve said “But Windows gets blue screens all the time!”.

Except of course, that Loonix actually isn’t fit to be a server OS – the ManyEyes™ and InherentlySecure™ fallacies have finally collapsed in front of the entire internet.

Windows is the better choice, by far.

The reason we play with words so, is to point out the cretinism of the Zealots, who cannot bring themselves to type Microsoft or Windows.

Has this rather obvious fact slip by you?

#10 Posted by imgx64 on Oct 15, 2011 8:48 AM

Well, you use “Durden” as religiously as Adam uses “Mafia$oft”. It’s not funny when he does it, and it’s not funny when you do it either. If there was any bit of satire in doing that, it got lost after the first dozen times.

#11 Posted by ReverseControllerSE on Oct 15, 2011 9:11 AM

And I do so quite intentionally, Linux should be named after Tyler Durden, in my honest opinion.

Besides, “DurdenOS” actually sounds less stupid than “Linux”.

Well, what can you do, eh?

> If you were a Linux fanboy, you would’ve said “But Windows gets blue screens all the time!”.

Didn’t you know?! AskUbuntu.com is displaying BSoD’s every time you view a page, you just can’t see it because the server isn’t connected to a monitor.

> Windows is the better choice, by far.

Well, it probably is. I have never really managed a web server beyond on my crappy little local server box, but IIS is so much easier to use than Apache. I don’t have to go in and edit any config files to add PHP or anything, I use that Web Installer and it downloads and installs it for me, unless I missed the memo about an Apache manager application.

Windows as a web server would probably be used much more often if it weren’t so expensive. Yes, you do get what you pay for, but I don’t think most people want to fork out ~$400 for Windows Server 2008 R2 Web Edition (if they are using a private server) or pay the extra $10/mo on managed hosting unless they have too, because many sites are in PHP or some other cross-platform language. Why not just go with some Linux distro, then?

“Besides, “DurdenOS” actually sounds less stupid than “Linux”.”

Plus it will give the impression that your operating system knows how to bomb your apartment with explosives made from soap.

#14 Posted by imgx64 on Oct 15, 2011 3:09 PM

Well, the TM1 was talking about the fictional statistics Linux fanboys make up, and not about Linux itself, so your whole calling-Linux-Durden is nonsensical. Linux does exist, regardless of any problems it has.

The Durden name fits the Hurd (Hurden?), however. Now that is a fictional operating system, which only exists in the imagination of Stallman and his followers.

(Besides, don’t you feel uneasy about comparing Linux with Brad Pitt?)

Let me remind who you posted this.

The poster is a Microsoft employee who spends usual amounts of time poo-pooing his employeer’s competitors like Linux and Google. You know, the subject of the article he linked to.

MICROSOFT EMPLOYEE. DRLOSER. Anonymously poo-pooing competitors on the Internet.

Should I repeat that again?

MICROSOFT EMPLOYEE. DRLOSER. Anonymously poo-pooing competitors on the Internet.

He posted this FUD. MICROSOFT EMPLOYEE. DRLOSER. Anonymously poo-pooing competitors on the Internet.

You can’t even make this up even if you tried! What … the … f**k. It’s almost surreal.

Great article and I’m glad people are exposing this crazy unethical behavior, by the way.

#16 Posted by Ian on Oct 16, 2011 8:21 PM

Because liking the products/services provided by the company you work for is unethical.

@Adam

Some have suggested you’re abusing substances, I considered that to be a bad joke, but after your fits of rage here, I’m starting to wonder.

But let us pretend for a moment your petty accusations made any sense…

—————————————

So, tell me, when was our good Doctor smearing the names of Microsoft’s competition, exactly when did that happen?

Because last I read his writings, he was praising Apple’s achievements.

Alternatively, he writes about various titbits from his personal life.

The few articles, where he exposes cretinisms, inherent in UNIX way of thinking and engineering, were both truthful and never aimed at any given company.

Accusing DrLoser of smearing anyone is just pathetic.

—————————————

As usual, Adam, you’ve managed to completely misinterpret and misunderstand what was said, and, of course, you’ve projected your personal traits (dishonesty, manipulativeness and quite a few other failings) onto others, it is you who tries to smear MS and their products at every opportunity (farcically, everywhere you look, you see yourself).

I’ve told you before: learn to read and get help for your issues.

Reading Adam’s comments gives me the urge to bring out my giant fly swatter of death.

Ok, it’s a bit overkill, but it’s funfunfun!
