Ever had that nasty suspicion that your new operating system blew up the audio stack or the video stack or the file system or executed OldYaller (rws-x—x)? Well, that would just be the Linux Desktop.
The Linux Desktop would never, never, blow your laptop battery. Windows 7 blows your laptop battery. This thread proves it.
Actually, it’s extremely interesting FUD. I mean, it genuinely counts as FUD, and I don’t have an instant rebuttal. Here’s my take on the subject:
- Windows 7 doesn’t like kittens.
- Windows 7 is very bad for the third world, just because.
- Windows 7 is a failure. Obviously. It’s a Microsoft conspiracy. Windows should go all the way up to 11. This is a Microsoft tax, fellas, and I for one am not going to put up with it!
- Windows 7 is absolutely and completely and obviously the only operating system ever built that is purposely designed to invade your firmware (“firmware,” tee hee hee) and make it naughty in the eyes of the Lord.
Well, the other ones are clearly the ravings of a conspiracy theory nutter, and I’ll own up to being a conspiracy theory nutter who loves kittens, is in awe of post-colonialist giants like Nelson Mandela, and owns a copy of Spinal Tap on VHS and on DVD, but that last one — well, I’m standing by that last one.
Buy junk hardware!
Replace your misbegotten OS with Linux!
Not only will your battery thank you, but St Dymphna will be able to move on to Higher Things!
Like, why the fuck doesn’t my WiFi work with the latest Linux Distro?
(I’m sorry to report that Tom’s Hardware, an otherwise perfectly sane site, buys in to this bollocks.)
Rally round, lads. This is actually serious FUD.
