Unusually, I am not going to attach TMs to this one. Just read Reddit. (My absolute favourite is the total loon who claims that OSX wouldn’t exist without RMS, because it uses something called “GNU Mach.”)

This one has absolutely everything. Enjoy!

For extra enjoyment, consider this from Slashdot. I’m sure there will be more.

“On this day, 25 years ago, Richard Stallman created the Free Software Foundation… He had been the director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Artificial Intelligence Lab.”

Deep joy folly folly.

Oops, sorry. An extremely fine feed from nikstard at linsux.

Is this concidered FUD?

Oh, it’s more than FUD. It’s echt FUD. Just read the comments — it’s worth waiting twenty five years for this level of FUD.

(Incidentally, I think there were about 90 posts when I set this one up. Last time I looked, there were about 180. This is FUD that will run and run and run.)

*There might not have been a Linux but for Stallman.

...Development was done on MINIX using the GNU C compiler, which is still the main choice for compiling Linux today…. History of Linux *

That comment stood out to me. If there was no GNU C Compiler, could MINIX not exist. They really wouldn’t use another C Compiler?

What Tanenbaum actually used is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amsterdam_Compiler_Kit. Look it up. Constructed in 1981, I believe.

Loons these days are so completely divorced from the process of actually writing code, and so inept when it comes to the technology, that they don’t have a clue quite how simple it is to produce a recursive-descent parser for, say, the C language, and a back-end for, say, i86. Suck my grandmother’s excretion through a straw, I could do that. Building a useful OS on top is a slightly different matter.

Honestly, the entire thread is full of hilarious fail. Keep reading.

Also noticed chronographer who stated a few good claims got voted down a lot. Like this:

“the fact that Ubuntu is actually GNU/Linux and not just Linux, is inconsequential. It works, and if it worked better than the alternatives, it would be used by most people.”

Going back to Reddit, here some guys trying to prove there larger than 1%.

Oh, lordy, lordy lordy. I have never seen so much crainess in one place. HHowever for me the actually standout comes at the very beginning from a linux youth who writes

“at the moment I’m not actively advocating for free software, I know it’s not the right thing but I’ve done it for many years and I’m tired. Now I’m for myself and only myself; at least for some time.”

The only thing sadder than the fact that this guy threw away so meny years in which he could have earned a living is that others still pony up to the bar on the Ponzi scheme that is open source.
