Good news, everyone’s favourite FUD machine, the Free Software Foundation (FSF), has translated the Windows 7 Sins into seven (get it?) languages, so that butthurt fundamentalists all over the world can join the cause. Are they going to have to wait until Windows 8 before they add a new language?
Nice to see how the list of languages its been translated to starts with Arabic and German, two languages that have never had any issues with fundamentalism.
The best part about the article is the bible-inspired cartoon:

“I’m sorry, Mr. Christ. You’re only licensed for five loaves of bread and two fish.”.
Ignoring the fact that the site hasn’t been translated to Hebrew, this highlights the notion that the FSF views this as a holy war. If bill gates is the anonymous provider of fish and loaves, then what is the FSF? Judas?
Even better, the whole point of the “fish and loaves” story was to show that Jesus did only need 5 loaves and 2 fish to feed 5000 people. According to this cartoon, Bill Gates helped Jesus perform a miracle!

Heh. In keeping with the Bible theme, all the Americans on this site (and maybe a few Europeans) will likely know about Jack Chick: http://www.chick.com/catalog/TractLookUp.asp
For those who don’t know, he’s a controversial, fundamentalist kook and his writings and drawings are frequently labeled “hate speech”... but he totally pwnz the FSF, because his works have been translated into over 100 languages.
Y’see, Windows7Sins? Having lots of translators working for you doesn’t make yer cause right…
Oh man, Jack Chick tracts are hilarious! A guest writer for X-entertainment waaay back in the day used to write panel-by-panel commentary on them. It was like Mystery Science Theatre 3000 but with fundy tracts as the target.

I believe it was DrLoser who said they’re obsessed with licenses, and a quick browse through the win7sins site clearly demonstrates that. Notice that they’re not attacking Windows’ functionality but Microsoft and how they market their products.
The only real attack on the system itself is the section about security. What does it consist of? The usual™ about “inherit” security in free software and a mention of a long-standing vulnerability which was identified five years ago.
I truly wish that lame “better security” myth would just be beaten dead already. It’s not like Linux hasn’t got long-standing vulnerabilities either: http://www.darknet.org.uk/2009/08/serious-linux-kernel-vulnerability-for-all-2-4-2-6-kernels/
But that’s okay for the freedomites. After all, they value price over productivity.
Whoever responsible for the commentary seems to have failed to point out one obvious fact – never trust anyone dressed up like General Zod from Superman II.

“I’m sorry, Mr. GNU/Jesus. You can only eat those GNU/loaves and GNU/fishes the way we tell you.”
If this cartoon had Richard Stallman, he’d be giving Jesus some dough and a baking recipe. Then when Jesus asks about an oven to bake the bread, Stallman and his followers would tell Jesus that he doesn’t really need that.
Also, er, why Bill Gates? Are they aware that, despite being non-executive chairman, he hasn’t even spent a full day at Microsoft since mid-2008? As usual, everything about free software is behind the times – even their jokes.
Did Microsoft enter now after the prostitution market the food one as well?
It’d be funnier if either one of them was offering the other a bottle of shampoo.
Also, Telugu? Now, I’m well aware that it’s one of the 22 official languages of India, but it’s not really up there on a par with, say, Portuguese, is it? Hindi, Gujerati, Urdu, yes. The more favoured of two official languages for Andhra Pradesh? They’re getting a little bit desperate there.
