Strictly speaking this is not Linux FUD, although I’m sure it’ll be repackaged soon on a website near you.
Raymond Chen makes the following three, perfectly reasonable, points:
(1) Your developers should never have done that in the first place.
(2) You can use XP compatibility mode to keep your application going.
(3) We provide you with tools to fix the problems. Please use them and fix the problems.
What worries me is that the standard FSF attitude bleeds in to some of the comments. Generally, it’s along the lines of “why don’t you fix this for us?”
The prize ass, however, states I hope there is a special place in hell for the guys that came up with UAC, SxS, the registry etc.
He’s blown away lower down in the post, but this is pure Freetard thinking:
- Only WE understand root.
- Only WE uderstand parallel shared libraries, and OURS are BETTER
- Why aren’t you using flat file configuration, like WE do?
Granted, it’s all better-mannered than, say, Ubuntu forums, but it still looks like the tip of the iceberg to me.
