So they laid off a chuck of their marketing department for cheap-shot mud-slinging campagins like this?

Look on the bright side. At least we’re laying off marketroids.

Obviously the Republican Primaries are running a little slow this week …

When does the gangbang start? You mean I endured all that cheesy acting and there is no porn?

Seriously now, Google Docs sucks and people know it. MS doesn’t need to fart out clips like that. Just tell people Office 365 exists and is like the “original” MS Office, and then highlight features Google Docs doesn’t have, and that’s it.

It’s kinda hard for publicity agencies to keep churning out more Santorum vs. Romney ads when they are all tied down with the Microsoft vs. Google stuff.

Fair enough: both sets of idiots are working at the extreme cheesy end of their field.

It’s astonishing quite how inept the Microsoft marketing department is, isn’t it?

The first rule of marketing is “know your position in the market.” This one is easy:

Microsoft EVIL. Google GOOD.

First try to persuade everybody that you are, in fact, Good, and then deal with that other thing. Dammit, even I know that much.

This is lame. Will some loon, please, stand up and tell us again about those Microsoft’s incredible marketing powers.

Oh, oh, oh… Don’t even get me started on that one.

Microsoft never had taste. It’s not about the money.

Actually, the “Google Guy”'s dialogue was pretty funny.

“Actually, the “Google Guy”'s dialogue was pretty funny”

I have to say, I do genuinely laugh at these ads: The GMail man is my favourite!

As someone who uses Google Docs quite a bit, I’m actually glad to see someone calling their bluff.

Almighty GNU/Linux, we ask that you smite those who would defame your servant google. Punish them with rightious slavery.

#13 Posted by DrLoser on Feb 23, 2012 8:59 AM

After the Almighty has done that, He may well choose to punish his servant Google for with-holding the Precious Kernelly Source…

“The GMail man is my favourite!”

Gmail man was funny and well excecuted, gotta agree.

“Gmail man was funny and well excecuted, gotta agree.”

I think both were funny, but if you’re trying to point out the non-suitability of a competitor for business purposes, a singing fatass on pink background might not be ideal to convey the message. It won’t convince business managers who’d need to be convinced, rather this will amuse enthusiasts. It’s also a correct message and not FUD as of the core message – except for you could maybe argue that Office 365 might also be subject to changes, like any cloud software, if you’re picky – but rather the way to convey the message is imho.

Develop an attack ad for minor competitors product

...

Profit?

Organizations are increasingly questioning why they are spending 3/4 the cost of the full computer on a f|_|cking Office suite.

Mafia$oft is threatened by Google Docs and LibreOffice. This is the only way they can figure out how to lash out. This just proves Mafia$oft is run by morons.

If you want to see how a compentently company produces advertisements, I direct to some of Google's.
