This is clearly Windows-loving FUD against Linux. Everyone knows that ARM is the future and everyone knows that Microsoft, with it’s billions of dollars and huge developer base, could never port Windows to the ARM processor. They simply don’t have the l33t coding skillz like Linux has to pull it off.

I mean, it’s not like they ever had NT running on anything but the x86 chips…right? I’m assuming the ARM fan club and FOSS community are suddenly going to turn about face and claim ARM to be old hat and that Microsoft is stupid for wanting to support it.

Please Windows was doomed when they dropped DEC Alpha, MIPS and PowerPC with Windows 2000, right?

I’m sure Linux land is loving this bit of news. {/sarcasm}

For the last couple of years all they have gone on about is how ARM was gonna go every where and Microsft had no way to ever never ever make or port Windows to ARM. Oops.

Admin, I have a feeling you are spot on about the Linux crowd jumping up and saying that ARM isn’t really that big a deal after all and predicting that MS is gonna die because they took the time and money to invest in it. And if this whole “System On a Chip” thing takes off, just listen to the weeping and wailing.

For The most interesting “take” on the Windows on ARM announcement, one need only look at robert pogson’s (pogson.6k.ca) past few posts on ARM for Solid Gold comments.
