So, HP have cut the price of their tablet from $499 to $99, and it sells out overnight.

A massive blow from Thor’s Own Hammer for Freedom!

And it has nothing at all to do with the fact that HP are discontinuing the whole line and getting out of the business and have all that unsold inventory and stuff.*

Massive! Thor! Freedom! Mature!

Oh, wait…

Also, I’m missing the point.

*They also wasted a billion or so on buying up a worthless OS and trying to market it as The Next Big Thing. Remind you of any Googles in particular?

Still, Palm probably came fully equipped with a passel of patents 'n’ stuff. And HP are not M$, and are practically FOSS. Those would be good, holy patents, then.

webOS isn’t actually dead… HP miscommunicated heavily in their press release. They meant to say that they are no longer manufacturing devices but will license the operating system itself.

“This is more evidence that the world is demanding small cheap computers and ARM and Android/Linux can provide them.”

Well, the iPad disproves that point.

“Even if Wintel can manage to enter this market Wintel will not be able to charge top dollar.”

Okay… Uh, they never planned to.

How do you read this rubbish? It makes me cry inside that there are people this stupid in the world.

WordPress really need to make their installer much more complicated to prevent sites like these.

“How do you read this rubbish?”

You don’t, really.

“It makes me cry inside that there are people this stupid in the world.”

This is why you shouldn’t be reading Crappie-San’s blog (no one should) – it’s full of nauseating crap.

Not stupid, so much. Stupid is everywhere.

Not even delusional. Occasionally a little ray of sunshine breaks through the delusional. (I should know, it happened to my paranoid ex twice.)

More, sort of, oh I dunno … I mean, that “Oh wait” link is actually in St Pog’s post.

More sort of dogged. I admire this. Perseverance in the face of abject failure is what made Britain Great, and Captain Scott Dead.

It’s the loyalty of the commenters that really makes me want to cry.

“I’m a physics guy, a computer geek, mushroom and berry picker and teacher. Blueberries and Debian GNU/Linux are my favourite things” Poogie-sans homepage.

Now, what I would like to know is just what kind of mushrooms it is that Poogie-san has been picking? hmmmmm?

He’s quite the loon, isn’t he; it’s silly they allow such people near the educations system.

Oh, and Ian?

Who the hell would license a dead operating system like WebOS?

Just for once I’d like to hear a tech company admit that they’ve made a horrendous mistake and pissed 100% of their investment down the drain. Nobody sane would hold it against them; it happens all the time.

But, nooooo … they have to hire marketroids from the “real world,” don’t they?

Hey, I’m just saying :P But yeah, it will either die or be bought again — probably just for the IP.
