Stare into the face of the next generation of Linux users. Then get distracted by the hideous background and horrible design. Then laugh at his twitter posts and shake your head at his musical preferences.
If you read the comments on any of the Trademarks you’ll know who Hoppi is. He’s the personification of what the TM Repository stands against. He dislikes this site so much he signed up for an account so that he could leave comments about why he thinks Linux is awesome. Naturally, his positive spin has desperate undertones.
This is because Hoppi sees himself as an underdog, probably not very popular and marginalized from his peers. Linux is also an underdog, with a very small userbase. He can relate, which makes him comfortable and less willing to question it.
Next, because he feels powerless, he joins the FOSS movement. There’s power in numbers and any success the movement has is a success for him by association.
However, when sites like this point out the flaws of Linux and its community, he takes it very personally. This is because any blow against Linux or the FOSS movement is a blow against him. Quite frankly, his ego is too fragile to take many more hits.
Thank you Hoppi, for helping me to realize the TM Repository. You and your Linux brothers helped make it happen.

I particularly like the “Use Ubuntu, Use KDE 4.” As if Ubuntu cares about KDE.
Suggestions on Trademarks are welcome. I could practically associate every single one, but I think ones specific to Linux Youth are best.
From now on, whenever I accuse Linux fanboys of being stuck in the 90s, I will point to that web page as proof.
oh god noooo! oh my ._.
this is going to get worse before it gets better :(
First of all I argued against that underdog argument or whatever on one of Frak’s pages, and actually FOR THE RECORD I signed up before I even knew this site was anti-Linux! I signed up because I saw Frak’s one about it being malware proof, thought this was just a standard article site (I have actually never been on or even seen an anti-Linux site before as I’ve never set out to find them), and signed up to leave a quick comment.
Then… I saw the rest of the site!!! xD
And hey don’t insult my little site!
It’s hardly my biggest project, I made that site in a day, I have… at least 4 or 5 websites overall I can’t even remember, and that’s the one I made the quickest!
@Hoppi, you must be one young LY to be using _ and ._. faces. I’m sure once you hit puberty you’ll start saying “epic win” and “epic fail”.
Just because I like using emoticon faces doesn’t make me young, and no I’ve never been too into phrases like that!
To be fair, Hoppi is a very long way away from being ye standard Linux blog fool. I’d guess that he’s only been tokin’ the toxins quite recently. I actually believe him when he says that “I signed up before I even knew this site was anti-Linux!”
(Partly because anybody who knows better would realise that this site is not anti-Linux. It’s anti fanbois (thus TMRepository™). Most, if not all of us, have used and will continue to use Linux at work.)
The lad will be fine once the toxins wear off.
In the mean time, Hoppi, don’t forget my challenge!
I’ll vote this one down because it’s wrong to be cruel to cripples.
@DrLoser, that’s why I’m refraining from calling him an idiot or anything like that. He hasn’t completely swallowed the kool-aid and there’s hope that he can become more critical thinker.
Ok those comments made me laugh :)
Joke is, Ive been using Linux for 6 years and Windows mostly prior to that for… the rest of my life I guess! I have been using it more than long enough to see its pros and cons, to see it develop, I saw Ubuntu start up and tried it over 2 years ago and was really happy with it (mostly the cool distinctive style it has). I have also been using computers long enough to appreciate the advantages of Win and OSX, I dont even attempt to convert people really as I know linux is still a bit tricky and under-supported.
Maybe I just dont react well to hearing something I love attacked (which you have to admit many people on this site do, regardless of whether theyre also referring to “fanboys”)
Oh and my bad, it wasnt on one of Frak’s pages that I commented on that thing about me being also an underdog or something, it was the YouDontNeedThatTM. But yeah when I first flicked over to Linux it was just out of curiosity, but then I found I liked it :)
When I want to be all nostalgic about Geocities pages, I now know where to go!
The funny thing is it’s a bit like me looking at some page you made years ago and never maintained, or some obscure page you helped with somewhere on the internet, and analysing it to the Nth degree! lol
I DON’T MAINTAIN HOPPIMIKE.COM! heh
I have other projects, that are not listed there! :)
“The funny thing is it’s a bit like me looking at some page you made years ago and never maintained”
http://hoppimike.com/
My response is at the lower-right corner.
And we are hardly in 2010.
@JOEMONCE LMAO! Nice catch man!
by hoppimike! 2009 :D
I never said that I made THAT website years ago. I actually believe I made it earlier this year perhaps during Summer in the space of an hour or 2 and have barely touched it since then.
Horrible home page in terms of design.
