I don’t think we’ve covered this one yet.

It’s an important bug. It affects 212 people. There’s all sorts of information available on the Ubuntu bug-tracker. Many of these 212 people are driven to distraction by the bug.

But what are they to do?

“Bug Number One” seems fairly Orwellian. I’d appreciate any comments or help on tracking this down.

Like every other ubuntu bug, it’ll never be fixed :)

Look no further. Honestly, look no further. I’ve just remembered the “Orwellian” correlate:

Brother Number One.

Seriously. Look no further.

Yeah, 'cuz the merit of Linux exists solely on its ability to put Microsoft out of business.

Here’s a tough one: do we prioritize making our OS more stable, secure, standardized and deployable or do we bog it down with ideological baggage from the get-go? Clearly, the latter is more important… after desktop cubes, of course.

I like the haiku guys, they know full well they can’t compete with windows, perhaps not even linux, they had a goal which was to remake BeOS from the ground as an open source OS, and they succeeded, not only that, but the system is quite stable for something on alpha, and they release everything on one of the most liberal licenses there is, the MIT license.

And yet, i see a movie of haiku on youtube, and there’s people asking what linux distro that is, and other idiots asking what proof is there that it isn’t based on linux.
Jeez i don’t know… maybe try looking at the SOURCE CODEZ! i though thats what you freetards wanted, the source to every software….

ThereIsOnlyWindowsAndLinux™

It’s not quite TM-worthy just yet, but it does seem to be the attitude of a lot of Linux fans I meet. Linux is the only competitor to Windows, so they think. A group who want to make the world aware that there’s other operating systems besides Windows don’t seem to be too aware themselves what the choices are.

These types are often the same folks that think Linux IS Unix and therefore by extension any Unix-based system is really the same thing with different coats of paint.
