Yes, it’s the Royster again. Sorry.

Deftly insulting Canonical’s COO along the way, whilst claiming that he’s doing no such thing, the good doctor throws in an invented term (“Fog Computing to emphasise the risks“) and finishes with this triumphant flourish:

As we pointed out earlier this year, Canonical decided to take money away from Mozilla developers and instead pass it to Ubuntu developers, who willingly sell Ubuntu users to the Microsoft 'cloud’.

Boycott Novell! Boycott Ubuntu! Boycott … er … where has everybody gone?

I’m eagerly awaiting the distro version of this attitude:

Ouroboros Linux. I’ve even got the splash screen for installation:

Ouroboros

If you want the Royster at his mouth-foamiest, check out http://boycottnovell.com/2010/03/28/chinese-rules-and-msft/.

That one’s pretty obscene, but there’s a limit to how many FUDs we need to assign to a blatant paranoid schizophrenic.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

The way Roy is headed, not a single person in the entire FOSS movement will support him.

I especially love the way he mentions Shuttleworth’s infamous meritocracy* remark and agrees that Ubuntu has problems. But not problems, y’see, like application deployment and hardware support. No, Ubuntu’s “problems” are Mono and Yahoo. SHOCK!!

*The meritocracy comment is Shuttleworth’s classic “foot-in-mouth” moment and will stick to him like the 640k quote sticks to Bill Gates.

Here’s a hint, Canonical:

When even crazies like Roy aren’t fooled by your new desktop themes, you’ve got serious problems.

I defer to the man: he is indeed a Doctor:

Software Engineer, interdisciplinary researcher, and an advocate of fair competition; holds a doctoral degree in Medical Biophysics.

Well, he’s no software engineer, but I’m sure a PhD from Manchester University in Medical Biophysics is a decent qualification for commenting on things CompSci. Also, he has apparently written something trivial in MatLab.

BoycottNovel reminds me a lot of this site: http://www.jesus-is-lord.com/

While Roy’s design is somewhat better and his mannerism (slightly) more civil, the similarities are unmistakable. Hundreds of articles which consist of rants, quotes and news stories taken out of context, paranoia, claims of negative influence and corruption and so forth. Replace “Catholic” and “Evolutionists” with “Microsoft” and “Novell” respectively and the themes are identical.
