Here we see an article entitled Please Don’t Compare Microsoft Vaporware to Today’s GNU/Linux. This is a legitimate criticism, since Ubuntu 10.04 is in beta right now and the linked article compares it to Windows 8 which hasn’t had a public facing build yet (or even a trade name set).
However, throughout the article, Boycott Novell makes a number of references to Vista 8. For those of you that don’t know, Boycott Novellians jumped for joy with the release of Vista and the ensuing poor reception. As such, the continue to try and paint Microsoft OSes with the same brush. Thus, the common usage of Vista 7 to imply that 7 is somehow a failure. Still, if people shouldn’t be comparing unreleased software to Linux, BN sure as hell shouldn’t be making comparisons between the reception of Vista and Windows 8. Do as I say, not as I do…

“As far as selling goes, Microsoft doesn’t sell software, it sells phantasies.”
Can I get a refund on all that software I bought off them, then?
Maybe I should adjust my CV. No more of this five years’ VC++, two years SQL Server crap (and I’ll have you know my Unix experience vastly outweighs that in any case).
No, from now on, my main skill is gonna be “Phantasies: ten years.”
I mean, if that’s what Microsoft is selling, then it’s obviously the market to be in.
And Apple is selling us dreams?
The only “fantasy” here is widespread desktop Linux usage.
